Arrow So, im finally getting rid of my cut tein s-techs...

Ride was too bouncy with the struts i have now, they'd be fine if i didnt live in jersey/ny area and i had tokico blues, or possibly KYB's

the drop was ridiculous. and fun for the time being. but its too low around here, the actual frame to ground clearance was about 4 inches AT MOST (you couldnt stick your hand under the frame flat and turn it 90 degrees) NO wheel gap whatsoever and the rear fender was eating the tire.

a change for the better soon....stay tuned.

idk what it was that made me lower my car. i like the handling so much better though.

its a crazy difference. i'll see how it rides with these other springs. stock ride was smoooottthhh though. it handled alright. but i like the look.

So, I've concluded that on a retarded low setup, handling suffers. Probably something to do with the suspension geometry having the wheels tilt too much and not having the proper contact with the ground. On heavy cornering the car would plow and just slide the tires sideways on the Tein's. But on the Eibach's the car remains stable and the steering is much much more precise. Can’t wait for wider tires.

The look is better too, less honda-ish with cut springs. It was TOO low. Maybe I can actually go over a speed bump now. The ride on the highway is better than stock I believe because it stabilizes itself much quicker and doesn’t ride like a boat, all floaty. Like the bounce I used to have. It made me seasick after these few months.

When and if this car ever leaves my possession, the springs will go into the Avalon or the Camry. I’m hoping the Avalon because I think it'd be cool to have a long *** car with crazy handling. It already has some really stiff performance struts made by Tokico. (Came with specific instructions from TRD/Toyota saying that it was a TRD replacement kit) From now on, I already know that each and every one of my cars will be lowered.

The drivability and safety is just awesome. it’s so nimble and if you research what PROPERLY lowering the car does, like improve braking distance and slalom speeds (meaning changing lanes on the highway quickly for the reason of avoiding an accident) it actually improves mpg's as well because there is less air traveling under the car creating less drag on all the stuff hanging down there.

The only reason I can think of that car makers don’t keep the cars at a height and suspension stiffness like this is because they know people want to lower the cars, and if they give it to you like that, what can you do to have fun with it? Some car makers give you the option to get it with the sport suspension, so I guess it’s enough.

All in all, I am very pleased with it. Onto the pictures.

Probably the stock ride height....
6
This is what you're faced with when the wheel's off
7
remove all the bolts and nuts attached to the strut. a 12mm for the brake line holder and a 14mm for the sway bar link. then a big set of bolts for the strut to knuckle connection. you also need to remove the plastic clip in front.
8
Ready to come out, just remove the (3) 14mm nuts up top.
9
I knew it was cut bad when i got them, i compared them to pictures of springs online. i put them in anyway, cause i wanted a modification.
10
Best part, no compression needed, just have to have a 200lb person push down on the top to get the nut on there.
11
Gotta push the strut bar down so it doesnt hit the hood. no one was around, so i sat on it. lol

next up, wheels (hopefully if this guy will respond to my pm's on toyotanation.

I honestly think it looks better at this height than it did before.

Looks great! Makes the already sporty looking ES look even sportier without the ricer look. I just replaced my shocks a couple months ago with Monroe SensaTrac's and the ride/handling difference is amazing. Now after seeing your pics it looks like I am going to have to get new springs.
