So I followed the DIY to replace the cabin air filter...
I pulled the rug back...
I removed the door to the filter...
I pulled out 1 filter (the one that bends in half)...
and i started to look for the *** of the other filter,
after endless searching I came out empty handed...
I just called the lexus dealer and they told me
1998 es300 only bring 1 filter (he quoted me 34.95)
is this right?

Check the DIY for the filter replacement and you will see that the AC cabin filter has two parts. They both fold for insertion and they stack on top of one another. i suspect that if you only found one the person that changed the filters did not do a complete job.

Maybe it's a matter of definition. My car is a 98. The filter I installed came in two parts. Since there was no filter in the car before I started I had nothing to compare . Maybe you need to see what the filter looks like that the dealer calls one filter.

I find this all very interesting. The two filters comes from the DIY. I followed it and purchased a two filter WIX set (PN WIX 24895) from Rock Auto for $18.75. The housing supports the two filters. Does anyone have a schematic of the AC airflow?

mrchacon, The filters I purchased were not ordorized. And to tell the truth I could not tell any difference after installing them. It took me awhile to get them inserted. Not that it's difficult but just awkward. Price drove me to get the Wix filter. Check your part numbers.
