ES and Camry

Thanks Flipside. Great info!
Is this engine being dicontinued after 2004? Perhaps being replaced with a new Toyota 3.3L I've been hearing about...
Does this apply to the VVT-i versions of this engine as well?
Actually, are there any "premium fuel" cars these days that can't take regular fuel? I assume all of them have computers that can adjust the timing accordingly.

To answer the original question, can you use 87 octane in your ES300, yes you can.

the main reason i ask is not to present the leveling of camry and ES...
cuz i want to knw what parts fit the camry will fit perfectly for the ES too... (due to the market had lots more camry parts than ES)
also i want my ES to be JDM.... so i dont mine put the toyota emblem on the trunk.......and said "TOYOTA WINDOM"
which look more younger....(NICE)

Forgive me, guys, but it's just a Camry. It just sounds better when someone asks you "what you drive?". You'd rather say "I own a Lexus" than "I own a Camry". Don't get me wrong, I like my ES ok, but it's not that great of a car. I consider it to be a "starter" Lexus. You have to own a SC430, a LS430, or atleast a GS to appreciate what Lexus is all about, and to be up there with the big boys. But an ES is just what is says, Economy Sedan. It's just a Camry with a Fancy name. IMO, of course.

does my car have an ECU? would it make it faster if i were to do as people in here say and reset it by discon the batt?
would it mess with the gas mileage?

I haven't caught the whole discussion, but apparently the GS ECU's adjust performance based on your driving style, so if you drive nicely most of the time, the computer will kinda smooth out and calm down the car's acceleration. Some of the guys over there have perceived a boost in performance by resetting the ECU back to the "unlearned" settings.
I doubt this would work with our car's, especially the older ones.
