Default everytime it rains my carpet is soaked! (97 es300)

CL,

I have had my Lexus ES300 for about 4 years now. Its my everyday beater. Recently when it rains I find out that my carpet floors are getting soaked. Not only that its at least 8-10 cups of water thats leaking from the front to the back. Has anyone else had this problem or can anyone help tell me what to check? I'm thinking its the front windsheild weather stripping. I compared it to my o8 Highlander and it looks just as good.

Thanks CL for any info

Do you have any idea WHERE the water is originating? Can you pinpoint a general area? Say, you feel the carpet wet up by the door around the drivers front, while on the pass front only the carpet touching the floor is wet.

There are many places a leak can happen, but a general area is really needed to start figureing it out. Could be windshield, rear window, rubber door seal, wire harness loose in firewall or door, etc.

Where in FL are you? I'll be in Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood in 1.5 weeks if you still need help then.

^ No, I'm pissed. I saw that last week. I'm getting there the 20th. Not bringing my car anyway, flying in, lol. But I would have LOVED to go and see the cars. My friend I'm staying with is goign to be away from home on the 19th is why I couldn't make it sooner.

I water has to be coming from somewhere around the windshield ( I believe) Today for example I drove from Jacksonville to Tallhassee (202 miles) and it was raining pretty much the whole way. When I got out I dumped 6 cups of water from the driver and passager back carpet! So again the water has to be coming from somewhere in the front. Maybe its time to just go buy the 5 series and use the is250 as a beater. lol Hope this helps.

Thanks!

Here is the possible places, but none can be discoutned unless there is a better idea of the exact leak location:
1: Floor
2: Windshield
3: Sunroof
4: Door weather stripping
5: Ruuber wire looms from door to body or firewall

Thanks for all the info guys. I'm now 100% its the Windshield. I will reseal it this weekend. Today as the car sat in the driveway and it started pouring again I watched my back carpet fill up with water. Its definately coming from the bottom windshield.

Thanks again CL

I had a similar problem but water was coming from the sunroof drain. If water is coming from the windshield wouldn't the front carpet be wet also?

The front carpet is also soaked but since my driverway sits on an angel all the water goes to the back carpet. :O(

Allright guys a little update,

I sealed off the whole front windsheild and now when it rains water cant get in. But another problem has come up. Its my a/c tube. Can someone tell me where the tube is in my engine? When my car is parked none of the extra moisture come out from under the car, instead its some how coming inside the car.
