Default Need help with a valve job

hi forum, i got a 00 es300 92k, after 1 month trying to figure out the problem, it turns out that i need a valve job. So what does a valve job include , and how hard of a task it is to do?

The problem started with a misfire, i changed checked the fuel inj, spark plugs( replaced em but tip is still charcoaled 4 out 6), ign coils, and o2 sensor. Somewhere in between changing these the engine starting knocking a lil bit, it went away after i changed the oil and reassembled the spark plugs etc.

I took it to a local mechanic and he checked the compression for cylinder 2-4-6, and they were bout 90 psi, which is below average, so he said i needed a valve job. Is that right , Also, is it possible to go to junkyard and pull the used valve parts of another car. Im kinda on a budget here, so any tips?

here are the codes

p0171 - bank 1 , lean a/f ratio-fuel inj or vacuum leak, maf sensor, ect sensor, ect sensor, or faulty ho2s

p300 - random misfire

p302 - cyl 2 misfire
p304 - cyl 4 misfire
p306 - cyl 6 misfire

Strange that it is only the front bank. I would recommend checking the valve clearance before going any further.

went to local mechanic and he did diagnostic include leakage cylinder and compression testing,
a quote from the mechanic $1500 for a valve job, $2500 for for whole used engine change, now is that right. Im a lil blown away, didnt realize a valve job cost that much

Did you check or replace your oxygen sensors? On my 1998 ES 300, I have two upstream oxygen sensors and one downstream oxygen sensor. I have read on a forum, that misfires or engines running to lean or rich has to do with the upstream oxygen sensors, they basically regulate the air/fuel ratio. And if one starts to go bad it starts to throw your air/fuel ratio off. Bank one refers to the oxygen sensor on the front exhaust manifold, front side of the engine and bank two refers to the sensor on the back exhaust manifold, back of the engine. If you haven't replace the oxygen sensor, you might want to do that, my sensor ran me 170 dollars each for a california emission car. Alot cheaper than a valve job. Hope this helps..
