Transmission problem
I have a 97 es300.a few days ago my car started hesitating like it didn't want to go.when it's in gear say final gear it's ok but when I get to a light or stop sign I can't get it to go in gear.it's an auto.now I got the car at home.I tried to put it in gear and it won't even engage.I'm hoping it's not the trans.I was told buy the Lexus dealer that these cars have like 6 computers.and it might be a sensor.I need you guys help.thxs

Ksmoove78 I have the same problem with my 93 since last week.
Basically when 1st accelerate from stop.. she hesitates like she choking on a hair ball...it embarrassing at the shopping center as everyones stares.. if I dont accelerate hard then it's not as bad.
There is no check engine light on all .... I took it to my uncle's workshop and he said that there a problem with the sensor which the box will need to be replace. He is sourcing another box for me ... will like cost $400-600 AUD.
This car is smooth / luxury / nice but i'm starting to have doubts about keeping it much longer .....I hate to think of the next steps I have to take.

I've just recently started having the same problem too, but only once. The car had sat though for nearly two weeks. It even stalled on me at a busy intersection, but started right back up. No engine check light came on.

heorung, you need to look up the MAF / VAF [terminology] problem. It's common only to 1992 and 1993 models, and happens infrequently on the previous 1991 and earlier. I just cleaned mine with brake cleaners and towels, inside. Then I did the fuel mod by changing the cog a few degrees ''lean''. My car was all better. I can provide links by searching, but only if you can't find it because I'm lazy I will wait until you tell me that :> Your problem sounds a bit like the problem. Don't replace the MAF VAF without trying to fix it, because it's expensive new, and the used one will have different degree of the problem. Like I said, mine if fine now :> and with manual trans , it's a little scary [very little, since one becomes used to it] when you merge onto a highway as it is, but to lose engine power for that few second, that's just rediculous, so don't leave it like this for long. BTW, it's most pronounced following a cold start.
