Default 96 es300 bad fuel economy......

hey guys been searching and reading bout bad fuel economy and still havnt really found anything definate. got a 96 es300, 1st purchased bout 5 months ago. notice only got out bout 300-350 klm until the fuel light came on. so basically 350 klm for 55 litres of fuel. now to me thats pretty bad for a 70 litre tank. did a service myself the other day. oil, oil filter, sparks, air filter and fuel filter. seems it hasnt change the fuel economy much. does any1 hav any other ideas of what could be the cause of this problem?
read that i should get a new 02 sensor? b4 i buy anything wana make sure if it is worth it.
ooohhh also did transmission oil aswell

cheers

Cool

Did you also replace the PCV valve & I assume your tire pressures are correct?

first off, the most intelligent and logical answer is really a question,

what fuel economy did you expect in this particular car
[measured in liters/100kilometer or miles/gallon]?

Red face

Actually that works out to 15.71 litres per 100 km's or 14.97 per U.S. gallon so that indeed does not sound quite right.

lol master yoda......
ye its somewhre around that mark..i never noticed it at the start but soon realised that there was somefin wrong. this car should give me at least 450- 500klm per tank easy.
might go and get an 02 sensor see if it helps. if not i guess ill have to take it to the mechs to have a looks. the k's im getting out is pretty rediculous if i must say.

Yeah something is not right.....but I think that year ES has 3 O2 sensors.

And since the PCV valve is like a $4.00 part & is plug & play....change that too.....can only help.

PCV is not likely cause, and certainly not a major player in your car's MPG or l/100km, but I think it's good to change it if it's due.
