Default Buying a new key 1994 Lexus ES300

Hey guys I really need to buy a spare key, I only have 1 key right now and I am really bad about misplacing them and I know its going to be extremely expensive if I lose it and have to go to the dealer to get a new one made.

Where do you guys suggest buying a key online and then taking it to a good locksmith who can then engrave the key?

Again sorry for the dumb questions but I am new to Lexus and this is my first one but I am very intrigued to learn all about them plus my buddy just bought the same car so I am relaying all of the information that you guys give to me. Its very appreciated!!!!!

Go to the dealer, bring your Registration. It's like $15, and they make it from the computer.

I'll stick to saying only do it at the dealer, lol. If you make a copy of a worn out key, it may not work right. The Toyota dealer charges about $12 for the key, and the ES300 that year had the same keys. So I say $15 since the Lexus dealer will be a bit more.

I should mention, the OWNER of the car is the only one that can have the key made. Thats why I said bring your registration, as long as it;s your name on it (as opposed to a parent or spouse). It only takes around 5-10 minutes for them to make the key and have you out.
