i feel it shifting 3 times. like the RPM goes above 2500, then drops to 1500ish. Is this possible? I think there' something wrong with the tranny. But I am not good with cars.

Do you have a good mechanic you can take the car too for a road test? And is this problem you mention happen when the car is cold or at normal operating temperature.....or both?

sure its not some kind of partial or full lockup clutch engangement in 3rd gear?
if you have 4spd trans, going into overdrive at 20mph is going to be very obviousl. even more so if the lockupclutch is applied [in4th at 20mph]
