Turning in my 92 ES300 - Need Parts?
So at 224,000 miles I think it is time to let her go. The AC finally died after 18 years. Love my Toyota's.
Any way, the reason for my post. Does anyone need any parts for there ES300? Before I trade it in for the "Cash for Clunkers" I figure if any one needs any parts, at least that would not prevent me from driving it to the dealer. Please let me know. Headlights, taillights, buttons, *****, seats, door panels, what ever. They are just going to crush it anyways. Please let me know what you may want and what it is worth to you. I will probably have the car until Aug 28th or so.

Yeah, you best be sure you qualify for the "C4C" program before you start ripping parts off her!
To BadViper22: is it the button backlighting that is out on your climate control unit? If so, replacing the bulbs is dead easy. No where near the hassle it is with the radio buttons. I can get you the exact part number for the bulbs if you want (you'll need three of them) which are obtainable at your friendly local Toyota dealership.

It is confirmed that the 92-93 ES does qualify for the cash for clunkers program.
Yup, every single light behind my climate control buttons has burnt out making it impossible to see em at night. If you could show me how to and what bulbs I would need I'd be Giddy with happiness. And is there also a possibility that we can change up the colors?

if the car is still good minus the a/c, fix the a/c since to help the earth we shall
reduce
reuse
recycle
and to make a new car is 60 barrels of oil.
secondly, its a scam by the govt and it is messing up dealers and is bad because, it's not free, its federal govt going deeper into debt that my gen has to pay for , assuming it can be since there is a crossover when the interest rate payment alone is such that it exceeds even the GDP
third, and finally, what they said is correct -- this car, had to have a certain MPG. less than 18, if I remmeber correct. while its rate 18 city, you might have a hard time. remmeber, they use a new calibration [since a few years ago] for MPG. They[EPA, whom the c4c program obtains their MPG number] also reapplied the new correction factor to older cars like ours. this lowered the MPG considereably. despite how inaccurate it is after the new factor, it's still what they use, and while it works to the advantage of someone trying to hurt the earth and screw-over american citizens financially, and help the foreign countries like Japan and Middle east[ see above how much oil goes into making a car], it might be inssuficient to allow them to turn in a es 300 if thing like MPG are insufficient.
I would very much like you to reconsider, and to just fix your a/c. These are good cars to keep and maintain.

If no one takes the tail lights by the time you decide to turn it in, can you send it to me so I can use it as a prototype for my LED project? I figure that with school starting soon, finding time to bake/split/measure/rebake would take too long and require a few days, which is something I can't do as my ES is my DD
Up to you though

Yup, according to the fueleconomy.gov/cars website, the 92 - 93 ES get's a combined 18 MPG....so it qualifies. Seems weird to me....the 92 LS 400 get's the same mileage!
