Default Wheel Fitment - 1999 ES300 - 235/45/17

Hello Gentlemen,

I just picked up a set of 17" GS400 rim with 235/45/17 tires on them. I have a 1999 ES300, currently with 15" rims and 205/65/15 tires. Based on my limited understanding, it seems that I'd be okay on Fenders and Wheelwells, however, will I need spacers to keep from rubbing the suspension? If so, what size and can I get them at a NAPA or O'Reily auto parts store or do I have to order online?

Appreciate all of the collective wisdom.

tires are fine. Its the offsets you are worried about...

what do I need to worry about with regard to the offsets?

Current wheel = 15 x 6 +45
New wheel = 17 x 8 +50

At the calculator on 1010tires dot com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp, it says 30mm less inner clearance and extend an extra 20mm outer position with the new wheel.

Does that mean that I will have rubbing or possible damage to struts, etc? Will spacers resolve this difference?

All help and input is much appreciated.

I spoke to Lexus and they stated that the offsets for both stock rims are +42. So, I shold be able to load the 1998 GS400 17" rims on the 3rd gen ES300. The only thing that he was not certain of was whether or not there was a change in stud size, but he didn't think so. So, according to the wheelmaster dot com/rt_specs calculator, I should be okay with this exchange.

Appreciate all who read/responded to this post.

Hi.

Try this calculator: http://www.bigcustomwheels.com/rt_specs.jsp

I was bored and just entered in all the values you have provided, here is the result:

So these results beg to differ than those compared to the one ones 1010 tires provided.

Based upon the above, you will be fine. No need to mess around with studs, they will work, hell, you should be able to run your factory lug nuts, as opposed to buying the slimmer version to accommodate many aftermarket wheels.

cheers,
Mike

Thanks, 01LEXPL, but it looks like it didn't work for me. I must have the specs wrong. I even called the Lexus dealer, but they steared me wrong on the offset I think. Lexus told me that the offsets were +42 for both sets. However, I had the '98 GS400 wheels loaded on today and they were glued to the rear shocks. Fronts seemed to be okay but couldn't really check those either because the rear wheels didn't even spin.

Any input on how I might measure these correctly to get the right spacers for the rear an/or front?

Thanks for your help.

Strange. Honestly don't listen to the service desk morons.

Take the rim and look at the stamping on the inside of the spokes.

All the specs should be stated there. I know from my stock wheels its a ET 45 on a 16 x 6 rim.

I would suggest a 3-5 mm spacer. As it is sounding very much like the SC430 wheels. To run those you need a min. of 3mm spacer to clear the suspension components. And the studs should still be fine with a spacer...

GL!

Thanks for the feedback, 01LEXPL. Do you know if I can get spacers local or do I need to get the ichiban type ones online?
