Default What to do with rust?

My 02 ES300 has rust around front windshield and it's pretty bad. Took it to few body shops and they are telling me not to fix it because it will come back in few months. They told me to trade it in if I can but i am still making payment on it(8k left on loan) and mileage is high (right now at 126k), car runs like new and i hate to trade it and don't know what to trade it with and hate to lose money on my ES... what would you guys to in this situation?

If a body shop does it right and removes the windshield, removes the rust, and properly paints it, it will never come back. Most likely cause is that the windshield has been replaced, and the paint was scratched duriong removal, causing it to rust.

Take it to a different shop and fix it.

well... took it to 3 different shops...2 of them were BODY SHOPS and 1 of them was mechanic/bodyshop. body shops were telling me there is no guarantee on the work and from their experiences it will come back within few months, and other mechanic/bodyshop is telling me he could fix it.... but many people are telling me that rust is not curable.... and those shops were all removing the front windshield and grind the rust, treat the rust, bondo, and then repaint the area... but still no guarantee....

If people are saying it is not curable, well you are SOL.

Rust around/near the windshield area is never good. It is always wet/moist [washer fluid/rain/etc].

The only way to solve this is, take out windsheild, cut out the entire patch with a couple of inches on each side to remove cancer completely, weld in a custom made panel and hope for the best.

No guarantees with this kind of work since, the panel will never be the same, this is a structural component, if its off by a little the windsheild wont sit right, OR the silicone around the windshield will let go/not bond in that area. This WILL cause condensation inside the car no matter what & no matter how strong the defrost/ventillation would be on. And of course it will make noise from the wind.

The last example is a close one to me, as it was experienced in a past vehicle [no the rust thing, the annoyances]
