Exclamation Chime in! 3ES owners with IS300 rims!

Yes, i had to make yet another thread as others one USING THE SEARCH FUNCTION, are not yielding an answer.

So, this ONLY applies to 3ES owners with IS300 rims.

So you have IS300 rims, what tire size you running???

I want to run the suggested & calculated 215/50R17 tire. I am not lowered yet, thinking an INCH in the future, but does this tire size clear the rear suspension components?

I need to know ASAP! thinking of getting rid of my Enkei's for a more simple look - for a few months!

edit: I am leaning towards a 'yes' on the tires since someone in the aftermarket wheel thread has some ES350 OEM 17's with 215/50R17 tires AND is lowered a bit...

Thanks guys'

-Mike

Oh btw, any recommendations on the lug nuts i should buy for these rims? Are you using OEM IS300 lugs? Or did you go aftermarket?

I am honestly tired of running the 'tuner lugs' with aftermarket rims.

I'm also curious about this. I'm looking at a set of IS300 rims in fairly good condition, but I want to know how they will work with 215/50R17 tires first. I've always really liked the look of the IS rims on the 3ES.

I have my wheels on order, same deal. According to the Tire Rack website, this tire to use with this wheel is the 215/50/17 size. Based on looking at the two lugs at Lexus yesterday, the ES lugs will be too long. Lugs at my dealer are $5 each.

Don't know about the rubbing once you lower.

Well, they suggest tat tire size for their wheels ... IE. whan you search for wheels [for the ES] most are 7" wide and have a ET 40 ... I KNOW those would fit perfect [had two sets in 17" & 18"], but its the IS300 specific Offset that bugs me, the ET 50 and of course that tire size.

The ES lugs are not long at all, they are quite stubby to be honest, but i presume they are simply too wide for this kind of wheel!

Actually, I went to the Lexus parts dept and he pulled both lugs. If they were the correct ones, the ES lugs from the 97 will stick up.

We'll see.

no one has this combo?

Okay so here are my findings [the number portion]:

So with this i am presumably going to succeed with such a setup, everything baing accounted for ET/wheel size/tires.

rolling on IS300 rims tire size at 215/45/r17
changed stock suspension to Kyb all around
using ebay "IS300 lug nuts"
IS300 rims on 3G ES is a good look

the clearance on my ride is fine
you can use the ES lug nuts but it will stick out so changing it is a must in my opinion

Stock ride height or lowered?

And that is strange seeing how the above calculator tell me different... And comparatively i have a ET40 wheel with a 225/45R17 tire, and i can see the 50 series fitting as it is NOT that much taller, a few mm's at most. Its the offset that is somewhat bugging me at this point

kaldes is running that tire size on his rims, not IS300 though.

In the wheel reference thread someone has the ES350 7 spoke alloys mounted on those tires as well, and it lowered...

I have a 98 ES300 with IS300 rims. And I have 215/50's, ride is way better than with the 45's it had on it when I bought the rims. I have a smaller spacer on the back wheels, i'm not really sure what size it is, as the guys at the tire shop had them and just gave them to me. But it BARELY touched without the spacers, so a small spacer is all the is necessary. As for the lugs I used the lugs from the IS300 and they work perfectly, The ES lugs will be too long, I just sold them with the rims.

I had a '94 ES300 with IS300 wheels on 215 50 17 and lowered on tein s-tech springs with KYB GR2. I had minor rubbing during hard cornering.

There is an old thread I posted with my car and pictures. Search my handle kphu and you should find it if you want to see what it looks like.

By the way, I had no spacers, however I would recommend some for the rear to get a more flush stance.
