Default Anyone running an AVIC-D3???

If so what the heck did you do to install it? I have very little experience with radio installation. All I wanted was a navigation, now I find out that I need a seperate amp, better speakers, etc. I have the harness but I was told that it installs into the amp not the radio harness as most cars. Also, is there a harness that will allow me to use the rear sub? Then, how do I bypass the parking brake? Any information regarding is greatly appreciated.

if you just wanted navi, just buy a navi. theres no need to go through putting in a new HU.

but all you have to do is plug the harness in and connect the wires.......

I have an Avic. If you want just navi just go buy the newer ones today, they are great. But you dont need a seperate amp, my Avic had enough to power the speakers (not the sub). Just go to the DIY sticky and look at how to bypass the amp.

Honestly, for what I paid for the Avic, I don't think I would have bought a navi Ok I guess I'll bypass the amp and see how it sounds. Any input on the parking brake bypass so you can watch dvd while in motion?

Try avic411.com they everything and anything about your model. I have a avic f700bt and I did the hardwire bypass by following the tutorial on that site.

For the brake, i have been informed its a simple switch. Like 2$ from Radio Shack...

They should be labeled with 'parking brake'. All you have to do is bypass it. I don't recall how, but it has been done millions of times.

I wish i could stumble upon a deal like that for a deck, or even a subwoofer.

For the bypass no switch will be needed. IIRC you will just need to jump one pin and connect the parking brake to ground. Make sure to confirm this on avic411.com. That is where all the best info is! GL! Let us know how it turns out...

Ah, yes yes. That is what i was thinking.

However the switch is still a good thing to have.

In Canada it is illegal to have the TV/DVD enable whilst driving, so some people get a switch. The cop pulls you over, enable the switch. Pull down the ebrake and its off... Drive away, click the switch and it works again.
