i am actually curious now. there is gotta be a wire for the o/d button inside.
so may be you need to press both buttons in and pull the lever up carefully? (with ignition OFF obviously)
btw, i saw that pic with M16 and a chain saw attached to it, is it for real or photoshop? judging by the shadow its real..

If your shift lever is the same as a 1998 ES 300, there are one or two screws on the back side of the lever (facing your arm rest). The cover on the front side (facing your dash) also has a cover that pops off, but its for your OD button, I myself tried to fuss with it and almost broke it. The screw(s) on the back side can be accessed by pulling down on the vertical plastic sleeve, the sleeve should just pop down off of the t-handle. Once you pop it down, you'll see one or two phillip head screw(s). Just undue them and the t-handle should just slide right off, just be carefull, you have the wires going to your OD button. I cut my wires and reconnected onto my new handle. Hope this helps............

Well... before you go off and do anything insane what are you gonna replace it with? A fake carbon fiber O/D-less racing **** from autozone? Levoc or nothing.![Thumb Up](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Lol, not really, the assumption comes from most of the people who join on a daily basis(nothing personal). Seeing as they're both Lexus I don't see why it wouldn't fit without some minor modifications, some cutting and fab'ing here and there. Or it could completely go the other way any not even remotely fit, thats the beauty of it I guess.
