Default Custom/Aftermarket 1997 ES300 headlights! Help!

Hi Guys,

I've done multiple restorations on my driver side headlight and it seems no matter what I do, I can't seem to get the yellow out! I've done the sanding, plastic x and I've even had them "professionaly" buffed, to no avail. My car is in excellent condition and would look great, but the yellow headlight seems to make it look crappy! So, I've given up and am now in the market for a new set, but I really dont want to buy stocks that have a chance of turning yellow again. Is there any site/link for some cool aftermarket/custom headlights? Thanks a mil!!!!!!

no aftermarket headlights for the 3es, but you can just get new stock ones and take care of them.

i used the 3m brand headlight restorer kit on my headlights and it worked great, clear as you can get its worth a shot for you, its only like 15 bucks.

maybe the inside of the lens is yellowed?

dude, i know what you mean

I did not even bother with the kit.

The thing that turns yellow is the 'chrome' INSIDE the headlight itself.

Sure it will buff out, but in order for it to last you NEED TO PROTECT IT!

So you have to get a sheet of 'Lamin-x' and then apply it AFTER buffed. To be honest, i have not done this after having it examined and noticing that a small test patch still doesn't get rid of the yellow. So i must agree with the few that have looked at it and suggested it is the chrome.

Worth a shot though?

In terms of lights the best you can do is get the OEM HID headlights, but of course for the price you are far better off doing a retrofit.

Cheers,
Mike.

Thanks for the responses guys!

To Mike, I think OEM is gonna have to do, but looking around the forum a bit I saw "retrofitting" mentioned a little bit. What exactly is that? Would I have to purchase the OEM lights and also additional headlights?

The lights are a lost cause, because it seems that there are multiple surface "cracks" on the headlights. I'm gonna have to go ahead and say that in order to sand to the "clear" layer of headlight, I would have to buff past these cracks and who knows how much light I would have left.
