Based upon all of the above replies there are a few answers to give.
A NINE YEAR OLD timing belt should be up for inspection, no doubt. With temperature and time rubber will degrade.
A NINE YEAR OLD set of tires is highly questionable, it is your discretion again.
I can go on; seals, gaskets, oil change intervals ...
In NA, it is firmly recommended to NOT have a set older than 10 years on a car [including the spare!] and in Europe they enforce a 6 year rule...
The ES300 is heralded as an over glorified Camry, but it is not. Frankly the ES300 shares the same frame/motor... no more. All else is completely different.
The ES300 can use regular, that is what the manual insists, you can use higher octanes if you please, it has been reported on Clublexus that there are no apparent advantages to this practice.
Last observation is that you sir, are cheap.
"I need to change xxxx " guess what, we all do, its something called car ownership.
Take my suggestion as you will, but keep that LS430. I would seriously not go for that car... But what do i know?

I have a 2004 ES330 with 67,500 miles on it. I currently ran into an ad for a 2001 LS430 with 64,000 miles. Would anyone recommend me trading my ES for a LS? Even though i will be going from a 2004 to a 2001 car.?

Its about how well the car was maintained and what condition it is in. If everything else checks out and you like the car, I don't see a problem with getting the LS.
The one thing you'll notice right away is the huge drop in fuel economy going to a V8, so take that into account. Also winter traction isn't that great in RWD cars compared to FWD.

Try to get a 2005/2006 LS430, if at all possible. My $0.02
Also, the LS is rear wheel drive, and has a much nicer turning radius than the ES.
(I hated the turning radius on my 2000 ES300)
Awesome acceleration, but a little lower mpg than the ES.
