New here: 97 ES 300 several issues
Hello,
I have several issues with my 1997 ES 300.
1. Broken front cup holder - is there any way to get one for less $$ than Lexus' $120.00 plus installation
2. Hieroglyphic stereo display - Lexus will not replace less than the entire radio unit $650.00 plus installation
3. Keyless remote is working, but the beeping sound is gone. Fuse maybe?
When I was a young woman I rebuilt the top half of my 1972 Javelin engine. I am just not that young anymore. But I would like to fix these items correctly.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Do a search on ebay, you should be able to find a the parts you are looking for much cheaper. If you do not feal comfortable installing it yourself, I am sure a independent garage would be more than happy to do the work for you.

There is a guy 5 minutes away from my house that is parting out a 97 ES300. I'm pretty sure he can sell you the cup holder for ~$20.00. Let me know.
He has a radio also but the display is half gone.

Welcome to CL. If the 97 shares the same cup holder as the 95 there is a fix for it in the DIY section. The radio will probably be found on ebay for cheaper. The beeping sound on my ES is controlled by a **** on the left hand side of the steering wheel if its there turn it up and you should be able to hear it. GOOD LUCK

Thank you all so much for your welcome and responses. I am sorry it has been so long. In this "new economy" I work three jobs 60 plus hours a week.
I got the **** to turn up the beeping sound for the lock sound. I have still not found a cupholder.
I gave up on the radio display now that the clear coat is disappearing from my car. Good thing this car will last forever. It will look like a piece of garbage, but it will run.
Now something is wrong with the door locks. They make the sound of locking and unlocking on occasion when I first get in the car ( never for the mechanic) If I leave the doors unlocked, they lock themselves and then the alarm begins to go off. I can usually stop the alarm with the key fob. Tonight however my husband had the same issue and then the car won't start - part of the security system I guess. It would be nice if anyone knew how long the system is set to not allow the car to start though.
Great forum, when I can get here. Thanks.
Despite all the issues, I hope to own a newer Lexus someday. I would like a sports car, but the IS is lower to the ground than my ES that drags bottom most of the time. So not sure what I will do, but with the cost being more than my house, it will be a while.
