I have a 93 ES that is misfiring on the rear center cylinder. Weird thing is that it is doing it intermittently. Some times it runs great, and then other times it just kinda stutters. It can be really bad a idle, you can feel the cylinder missing. Other times it idles fine. I have pulled the plug wire at the distributer and there is no noticable difference in how it runs with it off when it is missing. Could it be my distributer is going out? It was getting spark at the distributer. Just wondering what else I should check before tearing the engine down to the injectors.

How long has it been since the last tuneup? Have you tried swapping the spark plug wire? Have you looked at the plug? Very unlikely that the dis is the problem, but the cap and rotor could be part of the problem.

It could be your ignitor coil. This is what caused misfiring in my '99 ES. There should be one ignitor coil per cylinder/spark plug. so hopefully it is only one that is misfiring or else your would have to replace all and it wouldn't be cheap
