Default Removal of center instrument panel 98 ES300

how do you remove the center instrument panel particularly the A/C unit in a 98 ES300. I want to replace the bulb for the front and rear defroster since they are burnt out.

That'd be awesome! I'm not in a huge rush. I plan on replacing all the bulbs on the climate control and the radio this weekend.

as i hear you cannot replace the radio bulbs because they are soldered on the board... and you have to order a whole new board. thats what i read;

Sorry guys I delayed a day, was working on a project this weekend

Alright this is what you need
1. Flat head screwdriver
2. 10mm socket
3. Phillips screwdriver
I think that was all that was needed
sorry if I am wrong

This is what you have right?

here we go

First get shifter out of your way, by taking your flat head and opening this

Then push that button and pull it all the way back to L(still push the button on the side of your shifter)

Second you start prying the ac off very easy, just go in there with your flat and start plying it out (pushing towards the leather/cushiony thing), just go all around it

you then will see this

then you start prying off the bottom part(start from far end of each one because thats were the clip is at)

Then you will see this

After is done you see those gold socket screws, get you 10mm socket and turn it out. (make shur you have one of those extender thingys so you can reach)

then after you have loosen all of them the top 2 and the bottom 2
you should be able to just pull the whole middle part out.
and then from the sides you can loosen those with a cross/Phillips screwdriver. After that you can slide it out and do what you were planing to do with it.

any questions just ask me

All righty, removed the radio and climate control last night--Couldn't have been easier! Thanks, once again, Dixon Pai!

On a side note, I got all 6 bubs out of the climate control and called the local Lexus dealership today-- $6.95 each! Then called the called the Toyota dealership and gave them the same part numbers-- $3.84 each

LOL! Not Cool Lexus...

PDXLex, you remove the climate control to replace burn out bulbs behind it? if so, you should let me know how you did that and the kind of bulbs they take, mainly the rear defroster and front defroster button light.

How about you make the effort to search next time?

Here is what you should have found by now

Next, grow a set and attempt to take it apart.

It was super easy, that link that 01LEXPL posted was a big help. As I mentioned, get the bulbs from Toyota, not Lexus (they are about half the price)! The brown housed bulbs are Toyota P/N# 90010-03001 and the black housed bulbs are P/N # 90010-03002. You'll need 4 brown housed bulbs and 2 black housed bulbs. You'll probably have to special order them. None of the dealerships in my area seemed to stock these...
