Drove home in the rain last night and noticed my ABS light came on. Later I noticed it seemed to be labored turning l or r. Then after shutting off the car off. Now the gear selector won't go into any gear. It starts fine all the lights work but It's locked in park. The button on the selector will depress but not all the way. Oh and another thing now the windows don't work and they did before it started raining. It's off site so If I disconnect the battery for a minute or two would that fix it or do I call for a tow??

Have you tried using a flat head svrew driver on that little bump next to the shifter? pop that cap off stick the screwdriver right in the hole and you should be able to shift, if not then I would tow.

Maybe a brake pedal switch went out?

Doesn't recognize your pressing the brake down, so it doesn't allow you to shift out of park, but try to release it and see if nothing is blocking the shifter from moving.

I had a similar issue with mine a few months back. Mine was the brake light fuse went bad. When the brake lights don't light up, it doesn't allow the signal to continue to unlock the gear selector. I have also heard of this the shift solenoid malfuntions. My first test would be to make sure you have brake lights when you step on the pedal and then check the fuses.

I think I probably created this mess, anyway this is what happened. I was removing a old after market phone from my 95 es 300. I removed the phone with no issues and then about a week later I had my radio stop working,(cassette was stuck)
Anyway I was checking the fuses and found two wires one red and one black jumpered in the fuse box inside the car. I thought this was part of the phone that I removed the week earlier so I disconnected the wires and removed the jumper that was connected to two fuses. Moved the wires out of the way and threw away the brass jumper. The next day I got in to drive and could not move the gear selector, I used the by pass button and drove off. The next day I had someone tell me that I had no brake lights. Checked all the fuses and they are good.
So now the question is where can I get the brass jumper that I threw away, assuming that is the problem?
