Default 2005 ES330 Transmission Wiring Problem

Hello, I'm new, I have a 2005 ES330, After I washed the engine compartment, and dried it with compressed air, the trans would not go into reverse,I had it towed to the Lexus dealer, who after examining the problem, told me that the wiring harness that goes to trans axle had been damaged by battery acid, and that they would have to replace the whole front wiring harness at a cost of about $5100 .WOW I inquired if this problem had ever happened before on any other ES 330s,and he said no.I was thinking about contacting the 800 25 lexus line to see if there was any help that could be obtained by them,as I had just replaced the orginal battery about 2 months ago. Has anyone ever heard of this problem before,or had any assistance from Lexus? Thanks for any Help. Ern

If the harness was damaged by acid, I would suggest calling a wrecking yard and purchasing sections of a used harness and having a independant shop replace the damaged section. 5K is way too much!

I got similar problem with Honda Accord. One of the fuse blew under the hood. Does it start? Or use the screw driver to reset it at the drive stick. 5K is too much.

I used to wash engine all the times, but I let it runs while spraying with low pressure. After washing, I drove around a few blocks to dry. No problem starting next morning. Hope this woculd help.

Default Good news

The dealership lowered the cost to $4000,and my insurance company paid $3500,so I ended up paying my deductable which is $500,so I think I lucked out,my son told me I should call my insurance company and see if they would cover it,so I did and they covered it under the comprophensive part of the policy, and also said that it was not a chargable claim and my preimiums would not go up.I sure hope that last part is true, but for now all I can say is WOO HOO!!!! PS the only part that was not covered was the battery, the insurance company said they did not cover the part that caused the damage.
Thanks Ernie
