So I have an engine hoist and an engine stand and removed already most things in the engine compartment, right now - according to the rapair manual - I need to have engine hangers screwed to both cyliner heads so that I could install chain on them. The NO. 2 engine hanger part number is 12282-20020 and bolts to it 91642-80825. This is the one mounted on the front cylinder head. The NO.1 engine hanger should already be on the RH cylinder head but I have troubles identifying it - there is something only similar to the one in the drawing...

NO.2 ENGINE HANGER

My question is if I could use any substitutes and avoid buying NO.2 engine hanger from the dealer because they won't be cheap I believe (if they are available at all). Or maybe there is some trick to hook a chain to an engine...?

But NO.2 engine hanger is a Special Service Tool so I need to buy it from Lexus dealer or - like I would like to - get one that can replace it. NO.1 engine hanger should be on my engine, however on it's place is something that doesn't look like a hanger...

I was not aware that they call it a special tool. But all cars come with them allready installed. Sometime in your cars past, someone worked on the engine and decided not to re-install the hanger. I just checked my car, and verified that.

Yeah, you should be right, but why my original Repair Manual gives me hanger's part number as though it was an SST... I am almost 100% sure that the engine was rebuilt before, or at least the head gaskets were replaced (more possible) but anyway I still have to take it out to check if it could be reused or at least part of it...
Thanks for letting me know that cars come with them, I will have to visit a junk yard then...

are in your car both hangers the same because these in the drawings differ from each other...? And is hanger NO.1 installed at the same place as NO.2 but at the diagonal side?

The hangers are very different (front cylinder, back cylinder. The pictures that you have posted are accurate. Now when you call the wrecking yard, make sure you include earlier engines. IE I have a 94 and they appear to be identical to what you have.
