i put on a weapon r & am very happy with the results. more power, some engine growl at about 3500-4000rpm. install was easy! i had a k&N air filter on my jetta vr6 & it was nothing compared to the weapon r. just my take on it.
i think you can get a cold air shield to install around the intake for cooler air. good luck

Ive got a weapon R intake also on my 98 ES300, easy install, just had to modify one hose to get it to fit properly, otherwise easy install. I did though replace the weapon R filter with the K&N X-stream cone filter http://www.knfilters.com/universal/X-stream.htm Havent had a problem with any CEL, sounds and runs great. The weapon R website follows www.weapon-r.com

I've always used K&N filters on my past cars. The weapon R is a dry foam filter and it can suck in air from the top of the cone. I changed over to K&N because they came out with the X-stream which also able to suck in air from the top of the cone, plus it's consider a wet filter and made out of cotton. Like I said Iv'e always used K&N, as far as it sounds and performance, well sounds the same and it would be hard to tell performance wise. But, to me a big change from the stock filter and housing.
