you know how long rotors last? so, you're supposed to plan whether or not you will need heavy braking capability for mountains, or some emergency stop 4 years in advance?
NO, you're supposed to have good brakes that are as good as factory or better! Factory is great breaking system!
"ES 300 is a race car;" I can't find where I said that. I do know that people with luxury car want nice quiet ride and great brakes [a major safety issue]. Dual piston [not duel, this isn't your dreams of being some kind of car zorro when you're really a car janitor] calipers are part of a formula that came together by many engineers to suit the car and be integral to the braking system's design. Dual piston do not necessarily translate into better braking performance for all situations.
I do not recommend cross drilled / slotted rotors and track pads for a street car. I do recommend quality OEM-style parts - akebono is one brand for the pads, and there are many for the rotors.
The es 300 is not nor ever was a glorified camry. The es 250 was a glorified camry to use your terminology. But unfortunately, for many big picture over generalization types, this STUCK to the ES cars from 1991. The truth is, the ES 300 planning and design came first, and the camry was based on it. Naturally, with a car so well designed and spec'd, it is not surprising that the mid 90s saw the explosion of demand and purchases of toyota Camrys and ES 300s.
