This question is more for curiosity than anything else.

How come some of the ES300s (3d Generation) that I see on the road have their ES300 badge on the trunk, and some have them on the right Tail light. What is the difference.

Mine is an ES300 2001 that I purchased 2 Months ago, and its on the Trunk.

Because the 97-99 had the amber lights and it was on the trunk.

The 00-01 had the clear/red tailights and it was on the lamp itself.

Reason? Probably none, other than styling. IMO, looks nicer on the tail vs. the trunk lid.

if you have a 2001 and it's on the trunk, then the previous owner debadged the tail light and put a new badge on the trunk. this is actually what i'm doing now. i think it looks better there than on the tail light.

I also like it better on the trunk. I just was not sure why some where on the trunk and some on the tail light.

I don't think lexus has any formula on where the emblem will be placed. It's all mixed.
I own an '00 and it's placed on the trunk.

You know what, i think you are right. It is the special edition's that have them on the tails it seems. Since i have seen a handful that had them on there vs. the trunk lid.

I cannot comment 100% since my car doesn't have any badging on the fenders, i was told that it was a coach though...

i agree. IMO it does give it a more clean look...less cluttered on the actual trunk itself. i used to have the gold emblems on my ES, and it matched really well on the tail light.
