Default Just messed up my 98 es,Suite!!!!!!

So I recieved a 98 es for a wedding gift.Had 170,000 on it.Now has 190,000.And blew a plug.Coil completely broke and burned. Now cannot be rethreaded and instead of replacing the front head,I found a motor with only 94,000(same model and year as mine) for 850$.Now debating on aving a shop do the swap or what.Just curious on what others have to say.And always looking for 2000 hid headlights. And Supercharger or turbo kit possibly already fabbed for my car.Shoot me with some feedback.Noob to CL.Ill post pics soon.

what do you mean it blew a plug?
welcome to cl. please learn to be more organized in how you write.

between changing the head or swaping the engine, swaping the engine is slightly easier if you have all the tools and are wiling to spend money to do some other maintenance while its out.

if the older engine is already quite well maintained, then you might just do the head. then again, you could move the parts to the newer engine.

in this case, the head can be taken from a newer engine, or the whole newer engine put it. it seems like your older engine has problems beyond what you mentioned. therefore the newer engine should be put in and several things done before install to put it in good shape [timing belt + related, spark plugs, front and rear main seals, valve cover gasket [using the improved method to stop oil leak], and inspection of trans seal/replacement of them, and so forth.

figure, 400 bucks tops in stuff, plus the engine, plus any tools you need .... or labor. labor to do all this , if you find a good guy willing to do this all in one shot and everything, is impossible to say, but you can probably shoot for 1000 in labor.

consider a JDM engine? did you check the newer engine's condition and uzing the vin, the history [to check for mileage] and theres a trick: check the sludge in the engine you can tell whether or not to buy it.

Well I drove it about 4 miles after it sounded like a steam engine.nope.the coil was melted and left inside the head and the bottom of the plug dropped down into the cylinder.bad news bears.I ended up getting a shop to instal a motor with 80,000.did a complete reseal kit and all new timing componenets along with thermostat, plugs, wires all the basics.3,000$ for everything and includes a 2 year unlimited mile warranty.I liked it.just broke it in and completely diff feel.I know I could have got another car but.....I love the car.I'll keep it for a while.paid off is a good feeling.and I'm planning on getting a sc300 in the fall.really gonna be my wifes daily driver for a while, while I'm a basic from july to november.curious on drilled rotors, are they loud?I've got wheels and want a nice look behind em.
