Default Help, my car starts, then bogs down to a misfire and dies.

So I have a 1993 ES300 and I had to fix the back valve cover gasket. While doing so I cleaned the whole intake system and whatnot seeing as it needed cleaning. Sealed everything up, good as new, but when I went to turn it on, it turned over and then kinda shook for a second, and then I heard a popping sound which I took as misfire which lead to it dying instantaneously. I've been told it could be a loose vacuum line, bad gas (since it sat for a couple months), computer problems (since I cleaned the top half of the engine but not the bottom) and so many other things. I've searched the forums and found some hints, but I am just asking here, again, for a definite direction to go with. Thank you for any help guys.

Well if it were a vacuum leak causing the car to die that quickly. It would have to be completely unplugged, not just "loose", and a large diameter line at that! I would make sure the plug wires are routed correctly, even if they were off would "probably" still run, and make sure they are seated fully on to the plugs themselves.

I agree, the poping and dying sound like you may have crossed a couple spark plug wires. A vac leak that big would be evident. Just one thing, did you remember to hook up the egr tube on the back of the intake plenum. It is hard to see, and can be forgotten easily. But you would hear the leak (believe me I know that one from personel experience)

what they said plus: you may have used a cleaner that is causing the engine to run weird because its combustible. may have to block the throttle open to let it air out.
