whats up guys, i figure i would introduce myself here, my name is Nick, ive always been a toyota guy, coming from a 93 corolla (last year assembled in japan ) then to an 06 scion tc, sold both of them, then picked up my baby a 1992 jdm mr2 turbo now a little about my new purchase:

2000 Lexus ES300 Platinum Edition
(whatever that means)
~63,000 miles
~Black/Grey Exterior that i would rate 8 of 10
~Black Leather Interior that i would rate 10 of 10
~Nakamichi Premium Stereo
~Tints all around
~Aftermarket H.I.D.s in headlights and fogs
~Total Price $7800 (i think i got a great deal considering the cars condition)

I have been driving the car for 2 weeks and the only bad things i have noticed is the rear sub being blown, and a slight rattle under the passenger seat, other than that i love this car!!
Now i know that these cars have somewhat of a sludge problem so i know i have to keep up on oil changes, which i do anyway, i plan on doing an oil change, transmission flush, checking the plugs, and putting in a K&N drop in filter tomorrow. Are there any other things you guys recommend i check? or any other known quirks with these cars? thanks guys!!

welcome!..thats a sweeet deal u got.
Platinum Edition is the best one. Its the special edition that the company makes for "special people"..:P. But ya it has some high qualities ; from exterior paint to interior details.
with that low miles n price its a gr8 deal.
congrats
Dunt forget to post pixs.

do not put the k&n filter in.

do not do trans flush on older car that has not had it done at very regular intervals. instead, do a trans drop worth of fluid change and preferably actually drop trans replace filter clean magnets.

change the power steering fluid too.

quirk on your car is the engine fails due to black death sludge oil breakdown. otherwise, enjoy and welcome to the club

Freestyle, sounds like you found a great ES with what I would consider extremely low miles for the year. love to see some pictures as well as the rest of us. Oh and welcome to CL. Enjoy your ES!

because of the maf
and since its a toss up on this application for benefits and cost ... the one big problem is the k&N affect on MAF which is a big enough negative to make a paper filter best.
