98 es valve cover gaskets
is replacement of the valve cover gaskets pretty common on an ES300?
i had my wife's car TB done at a Toyota dealer (85k) and I had them replace the spark plugs, too. they said the valve cover gaskets leaked and i never saw a drop of oil on the engine.
got it home and notie the TB sticker said 73K.
was i taken?

The leak is common, specially from the rear bank - firewall side. If the leak is not too bad it just drips down the backside of the engine and burns off. If the leak is bad enough, you may smell smoke coming through the A/C vent when the engine gets hot.
Did you ever see oil drips on the ground under your car where you park it?
The less frequently you change the engine oil, the higher the chance of oil leaks after 90K or more miles. The gases and fumes from the normal engine operation get into the oil and make it acidy which then eats away your gaskets and seals.

actually its just a bad design for the vcg and bolts
did u get taken? I dont ,know. it seems like they made a mistake. since you say they wrote 73K on timing stick when it was really done at 85K.
