1994 ES300 New Owner Needs Tips
Hey All,
I just bought my first Lexus. She is a '94 ES300 with 161,000 miles. Two-tone black and grey. I am the third owner. The first owner up till 100,000 had it serviced at the dealer and the person I bought it from had the oil changed religiously with service records every 3K. I was told that it does not leak a drop of oil and when the oil is changed it is nice and amber.
Looking for things to tweak and would appreciate the help.
Things that I noticed are wrong:
Several needles on instrument panel are out and several dim spots on radio and climate control. (Saw good tutorials on forum)
Power antenna a little creaky.
Small scratch on door (Black) Paint? Color suggestions?
Chipped paint on front fender (Grey) suggestions? Repaint?
Headlights plexigass faded and yellow.
Ugly purple tint. Faded?
The trunk looks brand new complete with CD changer and Lexus First Aid Kit!
Back leather seats are immaculate. The front seats could use some cleaning. Suggestions? Saddle Soap? Armour All?
I paid $2500 for it as we were desperate without a vehicle, but after reading the forum, things seem to be looking up as it looks like I have a good vehicle If I do the proper maintenance.
Thanks for any tips, tricks, scheduled maintence for my new ES300!!

As far as the headlights are concerned, you can use 3M's Headlight Restoration kit. It will make the headlights look almost like brand new. You can get it for like $18 at Wal-Mart. The tint you have is the old kind that uses a dye. You will just have to get it replaced unfortunately. New tint technology is much improved.

For the headlights you can also try Meguiar's Plastix. It has done wonders on mine.
Do NOT use Armour All on your leather. I would suggest using Lexol cleaner and conditioner.
For the needles, I had mine done at lextech.org. Very reasonable on price and I could not be happier with the results. I have attached a pic. The picture does not really show how blue the backlighting is.
