Ok guys,

What should I do? My 93 Es has just 90,000 miles and the air conditioner was ice cold. Now it has developed a leak and it starts off cold, but after about twenty minutes or so it gets warmer and warmer until it is just hot. I know the system is freezing up because the freon (R-12) is low. My question is should I get the system retrofitted to use the newer style of freon (134)? I called two different shops and they both said that it would not cool as well as the original system. The old freon (R-12) is like $45 for a little 12 ounce can and will only get higher. 134 is $2 a can. Have any of you guys had the conversion done? What is involved and what kind of results have you had? How much should it cost? The faster I fix it the better as the Texas sun it starting to cook things down here.

My whole unit is shot. I am not going to replace it because they have to replace the whole system. I am not going to put anymore money like that into my car because I will not have it that long. If you want to though do right the first time.
