Factory Radio issues...
Hi,
I have an issue with my stock head unit on my 92 ES300 w/the 6 CD auto changer. When the temperature go below freezing (like 15 deg.), it will not work. It starts to flicker and decides to work when the car and interior is fully warmed up or at operating temp. Some lights are not working on the radio no more but operates well (LCD screen is good but also would like to get the lighting fixed). Anyone ever had this issue on cold weather?
I'm going to pull the head unit and disable the anti-theft feature since I set my own code on the radio. Need to check my connections, the wiring, and may add a small amount of electrical grease between the connectors if nothing wrong is found. Any advice would be appreciated.

I guess if that's the case...it's getting annoying having to wait for it to turn on after getting it warmed up. I wish I have a car garage to put my Lex in so that nothing gets frozen. Some of the lights on the radio are still out (the ones above the LCD and Volume ****). I would like to have it repaired but not sure where to send it in to restore lighting.

its annoying? you're asking a lot from electrical parts that are for civilian use. wish i had a garage for that and so many other reasons, myself.
the only electrical thing that has just recently really lost function is the clock. the thing looks more and more like a black smear as the days go bye..... sigh.....so old
