Default options for changing crappy steering wheel

Hey fellas,
I have a '93 es and the leather wrapped rim part of the steering wheel is starting to fade and is uglier than the chick my friend did last night...(oh, and he claims it was the "beer goggles"....rrright) Anywho, I was kinda curious as to what my options are for changing it. I might consider wood as an alternate if I can match the wood trim on my console panels. However, I don't know who to go to for such a mod on just the rim part (not the whole steering wheel). Re-wrapping it is another option but I'm unfamiliar to whom I should deal with on that side either. So, if any of you guys have suggestions I thank ya in advance.
l8rs,
-mike

Fake wood on the wheels sounds cheesy to me, especially when there's already real wood on the console. Ask a good upholstry shop how much it would cost to get the wheel re-upholstered.

Yeah there are multiple posts. The wood does look good though, I heard that it looks expensive. Look at the photos in the gallery

Mahn, I bought this leather cover at Pep Boys for like $35 but it is GOOD STUFF and the wheel now loosk new again and still classy. I had to wrap it and thread the cover over the wheel.

it wasn't one of those just stretch over your steering wheel type, was it?

I had the same problem with my wheel wearing. As soon as I noticed a little wear, I bought a Grant styling ring that pops on the steering wheel and looks like wood grain. This looked good to me, closely matched the stock wood grain, and keeps from further wearing the wheel more. The price was about $50. It's like the one's in this link...

Grant Wheel cover (look under Airbag Styling Rings)

woah they even got carbon fiber, lexpusher. so the stuff is pretty hard, like if you knock on it, it sounds pretty solid and not flimsy?

Yeah, they're pretty tough. They are made of plastic or something, but they feel solid when on the wheel. They have little strips of 3M adhesive on the back to adhere to the wheel, but I didn't even use them and it stays on perfectly. (I wasn't sure if the adhesive would mess up the wheel or not.) I think they're a great idea even if you're wheel isn't worn, just to keep it from getting that way.

BTW meZoom, I wondered myself about replacing all the woodgrain with carbon fiber, seeing how there is very little wood trim in the 96 ES.
