1996 Lexus Es300 starting problem
My fiancee has a es300 and recently she got a flex pipe installd on her car because someone stole her catalytic converter. She got this installed about three days ago. Everything was fine until yesterday when she went toi crank her car and it turned over but then cut off immediately and when she tried to press the gas to keep it on it cut off faster. I asked someone and they said it might be her computer messing up can someone help me thanks.

take it to auto zone, (or other parts store) and ask them to check for codes. The ECM will store codes for a finite period so even if the light is not on there may be a code stored. I do not know exactly how long, but if there is a code, can use this as a possible clue on how to proceed.

thanks I'll have her do that and she had her car at a transmission shop when this happened. A friend of mine said that she might have a problem with her computer because it won't stay on.

It is "possible" that there is a problem with the computer or any other number of things. Until some tests are done it is just speculation. It could just as easily be something much cheaper than the ECM.

Starting problem for my Lexus 1996 ES300:
I drive a couple of miles and I lose power and then I pull over to the side and after a few tries it starts again. This has happened a few times but it always starts after a few times cranking. Last few days when it stops it will not start. It will crank but will not start so I have it towed to a local repair shop and surprisingly it starts at the garage so the mechanic does not exactly know what could be going wrong. So far this has happened three times and it is really frustrating. I have just put in new fuel pump, timing chain, plugs and wires. I have been reading about a similar problem thread posted by bbb17 Would appreciate if someone can offr their expert suggestion/advice - thank you in advance!
