Need help, San Diego CA
Hello, I am new to this forum, I just bought a 1996 ES300, unfortunately the person I bought it from did not inform me that it was in the process of getting a salvage title. This would not be a problem since I got it for a good price and its in great shape, the problem arises with the registration, when I went to the DMV I was informed that it was "in the process" of getting a salvage title, which means it still needed to get a smog check and a brake and light inspection. I took it to have the brakes and lights inspected and the brakes passed just fine but the lights are a problem. I had a few lights out and was a ble to just replace the bulbs, but the headlights wont pass. The left headlight has a small crack in the outer plastic, and the right one has a broken mount. The headlights work fine but because of these minor issues I cant get the inspection certificate, I was wondering if there may be someone in the San Diego, CA areathat would be willing to let me just borrow thier headlights for a couple hours so that it passes the inspection, i live in the North County area, if anyone is willing to help me out please email me at jimnet518@hotmail.com

Thanks for the replies, I had already been planning on swinging by the junkyard and did so today, found one car with a pristine front end and was able to take the headlights for $35 each, $70 feels much better than almost $2000 from the dealer, i swapped them out earlier this afternoon and will be taking it in for the inspection tomorrow morning
If anyone ever needs help themselves I am always willing to help, and if anyone wants my old lights they can have them for free, just pay shipping

I'm from North County as well...
sbristow84, jimnet 518's headlights have cracks in them, If your headlights are not cracked, pick up a bottle of meguiars plastx plastic polish. They should clear right up.
1. Wash your car (at least the front end..)
2. Use a cotton terry cloth towel, follow directions on bottle (basically rub the product in until the lens becomes clear).
3. Follow up with a microfiber cloth and plastx
4. Add a sealant/wax for protection
You will need to repeat every 2-3 months as the lenses will become oxidized again.
jimnet: If sbristow84 (or eyezack) does not want your old cracked healights anymore, I'll be more than happy to pick them up today....this would be a practice headlamp for a HID retro
