Engine, track lights on; lean reading dangerous?
I have no other symptoms but rather than paying $60 for dealership diagnosis Checker got a "lean" code. Both lights came on at once, and again after cleared. I recently got a replacement gas cap (was told that could be it) and had the thermostat replaced in December. Also just got thr oil changed and a new air filter. .
Is it dangerous to drive? I love the car but reAlly need to wait to take it in if possible. Thanks in advance for any thoughts... I know nothing about mechanics.

Gas cap got nothing to do with a lean code and even less(nothing)with traction control.A lean code means you have a problem with fuel/air mixture,in your case to much air less fuel.Do you remember the code number? You maybe have a vacuum leak somewhere, check the intake pipe, from the air filter to throttle body.
Ps:When you get a Evap code then you go after the gas cap.

Thanks: I'll check that. Strange; it was the Lexus dealership serviceman who told me both lights could be on because of the gas cap, and to bring it back in for the $60 diagnosis if it didn't go off in a few days. I don't recall the code #; but Checker said it meant "engine lean".
