Its a subjective topic.

the only concrete answers you are gonna get are in the wheel/tires thread...

Otherwise, some of the threads i have seen here... *faceplam* I wouldn't trust many opinions since people can't even grasp the concept of oversized/undersized tires affecting the speedometer, let alone what 'offset' is...

I can tell you for a fact the 2nd gen. has more 'room' to fit some good sized wheels, vs. the constriction us 3rd gen. guys face without severe mods.

best of luck

if you want 18's you will have to do some fender modding or spacers. no getting around it. the size of spacers/severity of fender modding depends on width and offset. search can be useful here. been discussed many times.

Hi. At stock height with no modified fenders I had 18's 225/40/18 with no rub on the front but if I hit abig dip I had a little rubbing on back, but it didn't happen often.
Width wise I don't remember if it was 8 or 8.5, but I'm sure either should be fine since I'm riding on 20x8.5 225/35/20 now. With the drop springs on your car you'll probably have to roll your fenders though. Good Luck!

No problem.
Sorry not sure of the offset on the 18's, but my current rims are Boss Motorsports 328 Chrome 20x8.5,I'll try and look them up or you can if you want.
On the 18's no modding to either front or back.
On 20's I had raised the back end with spacers about 1.5" to cut down on the rubbing but the front end didn't rub at all or need any modifications surprisingly.
I still rub on the rear (only on big dips) but I am planning to roll my back fenders this weekend and possibly taking the spacers out to bring the back down to stock height.
Since our 2nd gen ES300's have more clearance in the front I'm also thinking about rolling the front and dropping it a little (which I'll need the expertise of the members of this forum to help guide me in the right direction) to even the car out.
