Default power steering: ATF vs. PS fluid???

Soooo, some of you may know from my first post that I have a power steering leak. I'm tracking that down (think it's the pressure hose from the pump to the rack), but in the process have come across a possible issue...

The guy I bought it from thought he had fixed the leak by "putting in some Prestone power steering fluid with the stop leak stuff in it".

Now I find out we're supposed to use ATF (Dex II, same as the tranny). Does someone knows (definitively) if I have a problem or not ... ?

We'll be driving the car for a while before I can replace the hose (gonna take a few days to track down if there are multiple leaks or not and to order the hoses) and I don't want to go any damage. I'll be replacing all the fluid when I do the hose, so all should be good (hopefully) long term.

The PS fluid won;t cause a problem. I actually talked ot a Toyota mechanic a few days ago about that for another friend. Just flush it out.

BUT, the problem is the stop leak. That can "sometimes" do more harm then good by ruining good parts. Just drain all the fluid out and replace it with ATF when you do the hose and all should be ok.
