Just wanted to post a note of thanks to the forum members for your tips and encouragment. A few weeks ago my ol' buddy and me got some tools together and what was particularly needed were the crows foot wrenches and the wobble extensions. The diagram and torque specs were readily available atthe local library's reference desk. I followed a member's advice and bought an OEM reman pump, although I bought aftermarket hi pressure hoses (and the nuts size was different than the OEM). Indeed, removing the RF tire and wheel-well apron created our window of opportunity to access the pump. There was suffiicient room to maneuver the pump over the tie rod without it touching anything. (I had cheap crows foot wrenches that were not compact enough to get around 1 of 4 hi-press nuts on top of the pump, so ended up using a short, open end wrench without the benefit of the torque wrench that was used on all the others. Got lucky, still dry.) Of course, it was necessary to remove the alternator belt before getting to the steering pump's pulley which, fortunately, came off easily. The learning curve was taking me for a first-time ride, no doubt, so the chore took more than 4 hours and a little less than 8 including a lunch break. The banter, cussin', and laughter didn't slow us down, but made it alll more enjoyable if not more bearable.
