Lightbulb Looking for burnt out needles

I'm looking for non-working spd/rpm/temp/etc. needles for donation or very cheap. Have an overseas florescent paint manufacturer with new patented liquid paint/sheets that is suppose to outlast most conventional florescent paint in the market. I have ordered some sample and would like to apply to the instrument needles for testing. Would prefer '91-96 ES300 needles but assumming the needle sizes are the same for other models I'll try on any available and place them in my dash ('95ES300). If this paint works as I am hoping it would I may just solve a lot of your dash problems and contract a manufacturer to make and market it along with aftermarket guage panels. Please help if you have extra non-working needles collecting dust.

Default partially brunt needle

Partially Burnt out means eventually it will burn out completely. Don't know exactly how long it will last - my rpm needle is also partially burnt but it has been this way for the last six months. You can only get replacements from Lexus dealers, but they are costly and you'll probably will have to pay additional for them to install it for you.

Its a good thing this topic showed up....the middle third of my gas gauge needle has burnt out....but the entire rest of my dash seems bright as new.....i have a 1994 ES300....with only 59K miles on it....that seems like a low mileage to be having problems with the the gauge lights going out.....i called HENDRICK LEXUS and they told me that i would have to have the whole thing replaced and the parts were $157 and labor was $175 or something like that with the total being $332.......i think thats ridiculous.....and want to know if i should wait til more of the needles start going out??.....and........will any other mechanics or places (such as a toyota dealership) replace this, maybe for cheaper?? Have any of you guys had a similar problem to this and what did you do? i guess i should just reach into the ole pocket and spend the $300 .....but if i could get it for less, i 'd much rather do that

BAWLEX94,

If only 1/3 of your gas needle is out, I'd wait a little longer to replace it unless it truly bothers you a lot. The price you quoted....is that just for the gas needle or all the needles? My '93 ES has 73K miles and I'm dreading the day I turn it on and see a needle burnig out.

actually.....the price that lexus quoted me was for the entire dash.....not just the gas needle......but i originally asked how much it would cost to replace the gas neelde.....but they said the entire gauge would need to be replaced.......i was just hoping some other place could replace it for cheaper...like a toyota place or a local mechanic place

i always noticed that the dash of my car seemed to be in great shape.....still today, its almost blinding at night because its so bright....just the middle third of the gas needle is out....and its annoying!....i might call around and see if i can find a cheaper place to get it fixed at

you know that you can turn down the brightness on the gauge cluster right? there is a little rolling **** just to the left of your steering wheel. it has a picture of a lightbulb i think next to it. just scroll it
