Fan/Mode/Gear indicator backlight out
For the past few years the backlights on the fan and mode buttons that control climate as well as the gear indicators near the shift have been out. I forget what lexus service department said the issue was a while back when it was in for service, but it wasn't cheap to fix so we just let it go. Weird thing is that sometimes on a cold start when you shift into reverse the backlight just for the gear indicators will come back on and then go out as soon as you put it in drive.
So what do you think the issue is? Burnt bulbs? Bad wiring? I checked fuses and that wasn't the issue. Here's a pic of the lights that are out in case I wasn't clear, thanks.

It sounds pretty much like the symptoms of a bulb going out. They will work on and off, but eventually they will quit working completely. You will probably just have to replace the bulb underneath the gear selector. I have a few bulbs out on my center console. They would work intermittently, but now they are completely dead.
