I am about to put in a new head unit on my '95ES300 and need some help on my wiring.
My head unit has the four channel speaker wires along with one preamp out for the rear (I haven't taken off my factory headunit yet, so I'm not sure how wiring on the factory one looks like). Anyways, I would lik my factory amp to continue powering the front speakers, and if possible, would like to add an additional amp to power the two rear 6x9s and one 10in. Sub in the trunk.
I recently replaced my factory 6x9s with a new pair of Pioneer 4way 6x9s - the sound quality is good but now the volume level in the rear is much lower compared to the front - I think probably due to the higher wattage requirement of the new speakers installed compared to the old one. Am I correct on this?
I have a 4ch Fosgate amp and an Orion 10" enclosed Sub collecting dust in my garage from my previous car and would like to use the amp to run the rear 6x9s and the Sub. Can this be done without major surgery on my factory setup?
So I guess my biggest question is can I hook up my new headunit's four speaker wires to the factory amp and still use the Headunit's existing one preamp out to power the additional amp to create more speaker channels? Also if I combine the four high level channels (speaker level wires), make into two and connect all to the front, would my factory amp give out more power to the front (since I won't be using the factory amp to power the rear if I can add the additional amp)?
Any expertise in these matters will be greatly appreciated.
*the Metra wiring harness came with two RCAs instead of high level wiring - am I going to have to convert them back to high level in order to use it in my setup?
