Does anyone know how to hardwire a V1 or a Passport8500?
a clear write up or instruction would be appreciated. I bought a V1 for my sister's ES300 and wondering how to hardwire it. TIA.

You need to hook it to the mirror
What year ES? Is the rear view mirror powered LCD? If so you need to hook it up in to that...on the GS the homelink is in the overhead console, so there is room to hide the power cord and converter on the V1, I don't know what the ES setup looks like...might be sunglasses holder up there.

Remember that the V1 uses telephone line cord (the one that goes from the phone to the wall outlet).
I put mine between the ceiling and the sun visor on the driver's side.
As far as getting power to it, I bought one of those longer line cords with the plugs on both ends - not sure the length, though I think it was 12'.
I ran it down from the sun visor (add a little bit of slack), along the windshield pillar (carefully slide it under the trim and don't use anything sharp).
Next, you go underneath the steering column - use one of those little adhesive hooks to keep it in place.
When you get to the center console, wedge the wire under the console (between it and the carpet), on the way to the center compartment.
Finally, you plug it into the socket in the compartment, and you're done!
This way, you aren't cutting into wires, don't have to worry about overloading anthing, fuses, etc., and it is switched by the key - if the accessories are on, your V1 is on.
