Default Road Rage in a parking lot

Had a scary encounter today. Some may say I am being stupid but it really freaked me out. I was at a four way stop in a parking lot when a guy in a tahoe ran his side of the stop sign. I looked a little quirky at him and proceeded behind him as we were both going the same way. When we got close to one of the stores he began flipping me off. I just stared for a moment but did not respond. I drove around the corner and parked for a second. I then began heading back to where he was parked and he was coming my way. He turned around and pulled up behind me as I was now stopped behind another car. He snapped a picture of my plate and then went the other way. I know it is probably nothing but it really freaked me out. Is this guy going to stalk me? Too much information available online these days. I will now sleep with my 9MM in my drawer.

Cool

  • Most of those folks are all bark - no bite.
  • You just skeered him by heading the same direction. He either thought you were following him, or pretending to follow him to scare him.
  • He likely thought it was taking the fight back to ya, getting your plates so you'd be too scared to damage his car - or him. Whatev.
  • Finally, ALWAYS sleep with your 9mm in the drawer.

I think he was probably just trying to freak you out a bit by taking a pic, or maybe "pretending" to take a pic, of your plate. If he really wanted to do harm to you, he had the perfect opportunity right there and then.

Don't worry dude. People do crazy stuff in the heat of the moment. After it wears off, eventually it will be a distant memory. I saw a road-rage incident right in front of me yesterday. A couple of idiots, my friends Karma and Darwin will get them eventually. Stuff happens...

good point. You guys are a good sounding board. I guess it is a bit too easy to jump to worst case when you get a bit of fear in your head.

Road rage is one of the dumbest ways to get your *** handed to you or worse. As tough as you think you are there always is someone tougher or crazier carrying a gun.

Honestly, what can he do with a picture? Tell a cop "I ran my stop sign and this guy gave me a weird look."? He's just trying to freak you out. Always good to have protection, but if you pull it out, you damn well better be firing it off. Guns are no joke - and not something to flash when you get scared.

It sounds like the guy was followed before by a PI or undercover. I think he felt scared because he was followed before and thought its another pesky private investigator following me. So he took action by trying to show you that he caught you following him. I'd ignore it, there's a lot of idiots out there but most of them don't have the *****. lol.
