Question 1996 Lexus es300. Good or Bad buy?

Im thinking about purchasing a 96 lexus es300. It has 192k on it. Its black with black interior. The seller says he has taken it in for a full inspection, oil change and air filter change along with it, and everything is good to go, nothing wrong with it. Says he has all the paper work to back it up. (well see)
Anyways, it does have some rust above the driver side rear wheel. Other than that nothing else but minor things. All the pics I have seen look good. What questions or concerns should i have for him and what to ask and look out for when viewing it in person. We made an agreement at $2000. Good or bad buy? Any other suggestions you can add or some advice will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Have to see pics, but I'd wager it's still got alot of life left in it and with some love could be a fantastic vehicle. $2k for a96 ES300 is a good deal, again I'd just have to see more on it's condition though.

Check for engine sludge. I'd also expect a big binder full of records. I'd also recommend that you do a pre-purchase inspection at a dealer.

Its average price i think. not really something that screams 'MUST BUY BEST DEAL EVAR'

Dude, 97-99 3rd Gen. ES's with similar or less mileage are gonna run you 4-5k$ tops.

You didn't post a budget, so that is my suggestion to you, go with a newer car.

Old car - old problems, the rust alone would tell me to stay away, who knows how far it has penetrated already?? Unless you bought it as a pizza delivery car wehre the cosmetics don't matter then maybe, otherwise to fix it is a waste of time and ~600$

Like i said, i wouldn't jump for joy, i would personally pay no more than 1500$ for something that old, and that's pushing it...
