Default Is this oil gelling/sludge?

Changed the oil on my 02 ES300 and noticed sooty residue when I opened the oil filler cap. I scraped some of it out and it looks like oil gel/sludge. I have an appointment with Longo Lexus on Monday, lets hope they do the right thing. Anyone have any luck getting this resolved via the oil gel settlement terms? The car was a CPO, but the warranty expired July 09. Shouldn't be an issue since I am still within the 8 years + 120 days right?

I have changed the oil regularly with nothing but Mobil 1 5W-30 full synthetic since I bought the car in 2006 with ~46K on it. Currently at just over 80K miles.

Thats not sludge, thats not even the internal engine. Oil sits there and burns. EVERY 1MZ-FE engine is like that. Your fine.

yep asg is right per usual, they all collect buildup under and on the oil cap. Mine has always looked that way for the 5 years and 60k I've had it and its fine internally, I've done the valve cover gaskets.

no issue....
my 03 has the same issue, and when i pulled the valve covers it was clean as a whistle inside...ive used mobil 1 synthetic since ive owned it and it helps keep the engine clean.

the oil sludge issue is for the older version of the 1mz anyway (up to 2001)
our cars arent known for the sludge problems.

u can also add a lil bit of tranny oil to engine oil, right before u do the oil change and flush afterwords, that helps alot
