Default just bought a 95 es300 w/196,000 miles on it,want some opinions

just bought a 95 es300 w/196,000 miles on it,want some opinions on what all i should do.The car sat up in a garage for 2 years so i changed the oil and air filter, then did an engine treatment and changed again.(oil was looking very nasty)so now i want to dig into it and do some major tune up/well needed services.i know i am replacing t.belt( and all the tensioners),w.pump plugs, wires, pcv valve, and all that.i will also probably pull the heads and do the valve stem seals, head gaskets, and the rest of the seals and gaskets in the heads.i dont really know much about the cars history( as far as services that have been done to it ) but i know that its leaking oil from the v.covers and probably else where and i want this car to last 4 a while( its my only 4 door, for the family ) is there any thing else i should do?i was thinking about doing the oil pump a the bottom end seals maybe. then i found some great prices on all that and also on piston rings, main bearings and all that .(went from major tune up to complete overhaul, i hate when that happenes.so does the ole' lady) do yhe oil pumps still produce good pressure and flow 200,000 into it? Do/should i have a machine shop check out the heads?resurface them atleast?
Thanks for Any thoughts/opinions on oil pump , head, and bottom end or any thing else. I actually got a GREAT deal on this car and i was suppose to clean it up to resale and make a few dollars, but after driving it .... i'm in love and want 2 keep it, with out worries, but my wife is starting to freak out about the $ i'm talking about throwing at it,so i figured i'd ask get some knowledgable opinions. Thanks in advance for all your help.

So are you primarily asking if you should do a complete rebuils, or you already decided you ARE doing a complete rebuild?

Honestly, you would probably be better off just buying a lower mileage used engine and swapping it in. An engine swap takes about 2-3 hours (if you know what you're doing, and I assume you do) - but the type of work you're talking about would take days.

^ Well, even for a professional it's not then 2-3 hours. But can be done in under a day. You can get a good low mileage motor for like $600. That may be the best bet as it was sitting for so long.

see, the thing is i,ve been driving it for 2 weeks and haven't had a single problem, outher than it's burning a lil oil on the manifold which is leaking from the v.cover.runs strong, nice n quiet.hell its even quiet at 100 mph!! but i do know its a lot of time n work to do all those repairs, thats why i poted this,so i could determine what i should do and what probably isn't needed.but to entertain the idea, what is the newest year car that i could get an engine from and drop in with out having to worry about any wiring issues n what not?

I guess it depends on the engine. I've done a swap in 2.5 hours before, but it was on an engine with slightly fewer connections, and I had done it before so I knew what to disconnect and how.

I stand by the "Drive it till it Drops" idea. If you have a KNOWN GOOD engine sitting around, you shouldn't have an issue swapping it out over a weekend and getting back to work on monday should the situation significantly worsen. But there's no point in spending a thousand dollars and countless man hours rebuilding an engine that can be purchased in good running order with relatively low miles for a few hundred quid.

those muffler bearings are terrible, i work at a muffler shop and we get 'em in all the time.the tranny filter is probably what i'll do first, and i guess the valve cover gaskets n plugs.the only noise that i hear is (i think) coming from the p.s. pump, sounds like bearings grinding a little.??do they usally go bad on this car? thanks again for all the input guys.

Default 2000 Lexus for ~5K

So I was searching in CL saw a nice looking lexus. I was thinking getting my uncle to buy it to replace his 1989 BMW 5 Series.

2000 Lexus ES300 Black
Black leather interior. 146,000 miles last 36,000 miles, mainly highway miles. At 110,000 miles, we put a new timing belt, and water pump, and did a full tune-up, and put all new shocks on it.
The brakes and tires are in good shape still.
new A/C condenser and compressor

priced it so low, is because the body is a little rough. There are no major dents to speak of, just rough spots here and there, and the paint on the bumper is chipping a little on the front and back bumpers. We priced having it repainted, and it runs about $1000.00, and that would make it perfect.

Good deal?
