It came of the assembly line on 4/1997 so its officially 13 years old and it still runs looks like its brand new. Best of all it has 245k miles on it. I hope it makes it over 350k like some people on here...

Congratulations! You'll definitely be able to hit 350K miles no problem. You car looks gorgeous. Keep up the work and happy driving.
I'm on the verge of hitting 400K miles. I should hit it by this May, June of July of this year...

Thanks guys!
trexus, were you the only owner for your car? Also do you do timing belt every 100k? Any advice as far as regular maintenance. I already do the oil changes every 5k and timing belt and tune up were done at 217K.

Yes I am the first and only owner of my 1996 ES 300. I change my timing belt every 90K miles and do all the regular maintenance...

Just so you know, your car has a non-interference engine. If the timing belt breaks, it won't damage the engine. You will just have to get it towed. Otherwise, 100k is a good number to go by for preventative maintenance. Change it along with the water pump.

My timing belt did break one time (270,000 miles) and I was stranded on the 580 and had to get it towed to the Lexus dealer and they replaced it for free since it was installed incorrectly...

Do all generations of the ES have non-interference engines?

No...
1992-1998 ES's have non-interference engines (1MZFE), 1999 and newer ES's have interference engines. In 1999, VVTi was added to the ES. That is one nice perk of having an older ES, not having to worry about the timing belt breaking.

R1R, thanks for the info, didn't know the 97 es has a non-interference engine. My 92 Camry had the same thing and the timing belt broke on the highway on my way back from getting wisdom tooth pulled out, it was not a pretty scene.
