I have a 96 lexus es300. Its overheating on me. It usually happens when im just idling like waiting at a drive threw like bk or something lol, or when im stuck in traffic just sitting there. But once i start to drive it cools down and it almost goes back to normal but not fully.

The coolant is right were its suppose to be and its not smoking or anything, but the engine is extremely hot when I open the hood. The engine and trans shift and run great just like a lexus should.

Ive been told maybe its a thermostat or something but im not exactly sure. Thought Id come here and get some expertise/experineced advice on what it could be or what i can do to relieve the problem.

How many miles is on your thermostate? It;s regular maintmence to change it.

Im not sure how many miles is on the theromostat... I bought the car 2 days ago. Ill fix the theromostat and go from there. Is there a write up on how to do that by chance?
